Borja Virto Astudillo

Borja was born in Pamplona, Spain, and took up playing golf at the age of 6 under the guidance of his single handicap golfing father. He won the Spanish Amateur Under 18 Championship in 2009, and turned professional in 2013. He is currently based in Spain and campaigning on the European Tour.

His golfing hero is fellow Spaniard Sergio Garcia, and his daily training is motivated by the hope that one day he will reach the same high ranking on the world golf scene.

He has yet to achieve a win on the European Tour, but he is aiming to be one of the 60 European Tour players who win a slot to play in the annual DP World Championship in Dubai. Descente will be with him all the way.

Borja played college golf at Iowa State University for two years. He played on the Alps Tour in 2014, winning twice, and finishing fourth on the Order of Merit. This finish secured him a Challenge Tour card for 2015 but he finished T-18 at the 2014 European Tour Qualifying School (after st arting at the second stage) to earn his European Tour card for 2015. He split time between both tours in 2015 and won on the Challenge Tour at the D+D Real Slovakia Challenge in July and The Foshan Open in October. He finished 2015 in third place on the Challenge Tour, earning a place on the European Tour for 2016.
